I recently spent a few days at the annual Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) trade show. I always enjoy going - to see what new equipment is available, to gawk at the irresistible stones for sale and to learn at the great seminars they offer.
Today we will look at a couple of trays from Bill Gangi Gems. Bill has been in the business for over 30 years, mining and cutting stones for use in jewelry. His dig locations include the USA, Canada and Mexico. He had a wonderful selection of unique stones at the MJSA show; my photography does not do them justice. Oh – and from Bill’s logo below – does anyone else recognize who he is a fan of? Come on, this is an easy one!

Below are jasper stones on the right, geode slices on the left and other assorted goodies all around. The jasper colors are very rich earth tones – ochers, russets, deep browns.

The trays below include from the top, clockwise, some malachite derivative, cuprite chrysocolla, rough cut lapis lazuli and an assortment including very rare larimar.

What do you like best? I loved them all, the colors were beautiful and the craftsmanship was excellent! Most of the stones above are perfect for bezel setting, to live lives as pendants, earrings or cuff links. If the stones are naturally sturdy, they may become part of a bracelet or ring, both of which are subject to extra wear and tear.
Will have more jewels from other vendors up for you soon!

I did get a matched pair of jasper drops – have not had a chance to photograph yet, but will as soon as I’m done with my state sales tax – due Monday!
Love the jasper, also – the colors are so rich!
Hey Maria – really beautiful website and blog. You were probably like a kid in a candy store at that event. Jasper is gorgeous.
Glad you are doing what you love!!

PS – check out my blog. I am doing a great Giveaway – a Handpainted Paint Color Fan Deck, composed of really beautiful, usable designer colors (and the samples are actual paint – not pics!)
Thanks, Linda – yes, always a fabulous time at MJSA – which is coming up soon! I did see about your giveaway and was tempted to enter, but since I’m no longer in paint biz, didn’t want to take from someone who could really use it for their business. The colors in that fan deck are really beautiful, so versatile!
